One discomfort a day, chosen or drawn, met with a single spoken word of acceptance, then no complaint, no narration, no posting. The word is the mechanic. There is no text box on this page because there is nothing to write.
Today's discomfort
Say it once, out loud if you can, when the discomfort arrives. Then nothing: no complaint, no story, no post. Tap the button after, and that is the whole record.
The set
One per line. Edit to fit your life. The page draws from this list.
The record
The honest limit, stated first. At the Dewa Sanzan, trainees under a vow of near silence answer every instruction from their teacher with one word, uketamo, I accept. That is where this page gets the word, and it is worth saying that this is how the training there is described in English rather than a formula documented across the whole tradition. Shugendo itself was abolished by law in 1872, and what exists now is a reconstruction; an unbroken line from En no Gyoja, exiled in 699 and barely documented, cannot be supported. The austerity belongs to a mountain, a group and a priest, and a discomfort accepted at sea level with none of them is a different thing wearing the name. And the tradition maintains a formal exclusion of women from its most famous route, which its own practitioners defend and which this page states and does not resolve. What travels is one word, said once, followed by silence. The evidence for that is your own week, and the page keeps only the dates.
