The watching, not the recitation
A daily muraqaba sit: attention held, watching, for a fixed time. This page dispenses no dhikr and no wird, because the living orders hold that those require a shaykh's permission, and a page cannot give one. It keeps the minutes of the sit.

The sit

15:00
Sit. Watch the breath go in and out, aware of each one. That is the whole instruction on this page.

What this page will not do

Nearly every living Sufi order holds that a formula of remembrance is transmitted by a teacher with permission to transmit it, and is not taken from a page. This page agrees, and so it gives none. If you want the practice as the tradition keeps it, the tradition is where it is kept.

Sits

The honest limit, stated first. The whirling most Westerners have seen is a licensed folkloric performance by an order the Turkish state outlawed in 1925, and the idea of Sufism as a universal mysticism separable from Islam is a twentieth-century Western construction about a minority that is, in places, under physical attack: the mosque at al-Rawda in November 2017 is in the record. Ghijduwani's principle of awareness in the breath, from the twelfth century, and al-Ghazali's collapse in 1095 and what he did after it, are history this page tells elsewhere. What it does here is small on purpose: it times a sit and keeps the date. It does not dispense what the orders say cannot be dispensed, and if that leaves the page thin, the thinness is the honest size.
